We know this is a big trip with a lot of logistics, so we’ve added some information below to answer questions you may have!

Are children welcome?

While we adore the little ones in our lives, we have chosen to host an adults-only celebration. Please let us know about your specific situation so we can think through options.

Do I need a visa to visit Mexico?

You do not need a visa if your passport is on this list.

You might also be exempt from needing a visa for Mexico if you have a valid visa for the US/UK. More details here.

If you do need a visa, please check with your local Mexican Consulate about the application process and timelines.

Should I stay in Tepoztlán the full weekend?

We recommend arriving to Tepoztlán on Thursday morning or Friday morning and staying until Sunday morning. Tepoztlán is ~1-2 hours away from Mexico City (depending on starting point and traffic).

How do I move around Tepoztlan?

In the town center, walking is fine!

Outside of the town center, we recommend driving to move around. To order a cab with a trusted service:

Radio Taxi Independencia (+52 777 189 8649) Message them on WhatsApp at least 15 min before and specify 1) pickup, 2) dropoff, 3) number of people, and 4) whether you will need to pay by card (need to specify ahead of time!) Spanish or English.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi and pay with cash. Please note: There are NO Ubers, and street taxis usually do NOT take cards (only cash).

Is there parking at the venues?

Yes. Valet parking is available at Posada del Tepozteco and Rincon Meztitla.

What should I wear for each event?

For the Friday Indian Soiree, colorful Indian attire. For Saturday, Black Tie Optional / Formal attire. Please see HERE for more information.

What will the weather be like?

During the day, Tepoztlán can go be as hot as 81°F / 27°C but once the sun goes down, temperatures can drop to 52°F / 11°C. Please plan on bringing sunglasses/sunscreen for the day, and a jacket/shawl for the evening.

Can I drink water from the tap?

No, while you’re in Mexico please stick to drinking water from water bottles. Also better safe than sorry with street stalls: avoid ice, uncooked vegetables, and seafood.

Moctezuma's revenge: Legend has it that Moctezuma, the last Aztec ruler before the empire was conquered by the Spanish, cursed all foreigners that landed in Mexico with stomach aches. The condition is seen as “retribution” for the slaughter and enslavement of the Aztec people by Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés.

Are Mexico City and Tepoztlán safe to walk around?

Tepoztlán: Small town that is extremely safe. Outside of the center of town, streets are not very walkable, so we recommend taking a car. It is also more of a day town than a nightlife town, so we do not recommend walking around at night. There are no Ubers and taxis do not take card, so bring cash.

Mexico City: To enjoy all of what this vibrant and exciting city has to offer, it's important to be mindful of your surroundings and take common-sense precautions, just like you would in any large city. Uber and Apple Pay exist, and people speak English.
